A+ Book arrived!

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Ordered my A+ certification by Michael Meyers from amazon. Funny enough amazon said this item wouldn’t arrive before Christmas but it has!

I plan on studying this book really hard and have the exams passed around February/March ish so i can begin studying the Network+ book. This is a good starting road to get me into the IT industry.

Work have given me loads of overtime this month to keep me busy, and at this rate i probably can get a new car around March ish as well, so things are looking bright for a new year. :)

I wish everyone a Happy Christmas!

Technician job i applied for

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

Well it seem’s i didn’t get the job nor an interview to show/explain what i am capable off. Really need an interview to show what i am capable off, without one qualifications and experience doesn’t really talk for its self on my cv. I personally don’t see qulifications as a way of knowing what you are doing, you can easy get a top grade and still be totally useless which i can understand from a employer point of view. As for experience… i would say i am experienced but without so called ‘proof’ it doesn’t really work.

Got a few more jobs in mind that i shall be applying for, whoever employees me wont be disappointment with what they get, as i’ve showed every employer so far. :)

Lately i have been getting back into website development as i don’t have facilities here to really expand my computer or networking skills, to expand these skills i really need more than 5 workstations and some top devices such as Cisco routers/switches.

I recently created www.darkwar.co.uk which is a comic site for my mate Klegg, this site is running all from a forum. I needed to connect to the forum database, searching topics where the posts were made and link them all together. This took a while to do as i haven’t been doing website development for ages, but once done the feeling was great. :)

For now it’s back to job searching and having fun.

Bloody Credit Rating

Monday, December 12th, 2005

[RANT]

Today i took a nice walk to Nationwide to open a flex account, even better there was someone there to set it all up for me, great!. Well get to the end and it seems i can’t get a debit card! :(. Why’s this i ask? she checked and it seems i have a low credit rating or none at all! :D (That’s a good thing i don’t want to have a bloody credit card and get into debt feckers!). So it seems the only way i can get a debit card is to get a credit card or something on finance and pay it off and get a credit rating. But that encourages me to get into debt (hence me not wanting a credit card) logic there please?

They won’t give me a debit card because i might get my self in trouble with that, but i need a credit rating in order to get one so that means i need a credit card and something on fiance, and thats going to get me more into debt. LOGIC PLEASE!?. Wasn’t Natinowide fault its the credit system it sucks.

I got a debit card etc with Natwest, the reason i want one on Nationwide is so i can get a loan (there loans are the cheapest and the best) and get a car, looks like i need to wait 3-6months or till i get a full time job and just get it on finance, ARGH.

Cousin Wedding

Sunday, December 11th, 2005

Last night i saw my cousin Dan getting married to Louanne which went all perfect and i wish them happiness in life!

The drink and food afterwards was top notch as well, it was so good that i was sick in the toilets (mixing beer and wine isn’t too good for me) i was probably the first person to be sick that night so thats good. :)

All the good looking girls were pretty much taken and whilst there were some nice girls they probably was underage anyways. :o

My 15 year old brother managed to get drunk and had a good night so thats all good. ;)

Last night was absolutely great and was good to see my family together again. :)

IT Experience

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

Well today i went to Birchington Primary School to get more experience with computers that i can put on my CV.

The school is like 30 seconds away from my house so it’s not hard to travel. :P

Anyways, i learnt how to use RM CC3 (Research Machines Community Connect 3) and i am impressed with this software, its like active directory but you can do it all via a nice GUI interface which makes things alot more simplier to do stuff and loads of other applications.

I also learnt how to create an MSI installer of programs which can be installed on every machine from one machine once the computers have been restarted, makes deploying software alot easier!

I also got the chance to watch the technician install RM CC3 from scratch on a computer he just repaired, very easy stuff to do. :)

I was speaking to him and normally it would take someone around 3hrs to learn this stuff and i managed to understand it all in about 10 minutes. I was speaking to him also what makes a good application/cv for a IT job as hes had to interview people etc, and it seems my cv/online profile is perfect so hopefuly i will get an interview for that IT job… which now i can say i have undertaken work experience and know how to use RM and school web email!

I’m going back Monday to follow him around and get more experience, but we practically covered the whole school network in 1 day. :o

Very worth it and now i feel alot more confident about working in a school as an IT technician now gotten this experience! also the interview shouldn’t be to hard (assuming i get one!) because of this useful experience.
