Well today i went to Birchington Primary School to get more experience with computers that i can put on my CV.
The school is like 30 seconds away from my house so it’s not hard to travel.
Anyways, i learnt how to use RM CC3 (Research Machines Community Connect 3) and i am impressed with this software, its like active directory but you can do it all via a nice GUI interface which makes things alot more simplier to do stuff and loads of other applications.
I also learnt how to create an MSI installer of programs which can be installed on every machine from one machine once the computers have been restarted, makes deploying software alot easier!
I also got the chance to watch the technician install RM CC3 from scratch on a computer he just repaired, very easy stuff to do.
I was speaking to him and normally it would take someone around 3hrs to learn this stuff and i managed to understand it all in about 10 minutes. I was speaking to him also what makes a good application/cv for a IT job as hes had to interview people etc, and it seems my cv/online profile is perfect so hopefuly i will get an interview for that IT job… which now i can say i have undertaken work experience and know how to use RM and school web email!
I’m going back Monday to follow him around and get more experience, but we practically covered the whole school network in 1 day.
Very worth it and now i feel alot more confident about working in a school as an IT technician now gotten this experience! also the interview shouldn’t be to hard (assuming i get one!) because of this useful experience.
